South Tyrol… a land of diversity

Discover the magic of South Tyrol

South Tyrol...
South Tyrol is described still today as a symbiosis of alpine and Mediterranean spontaneity and reliability, nature and culture.

In South Tyrol you will get to know steep cliffs, snow-white mountain peaks, pulsating centres, idyllic villages, mighty castles, romantic palaces, good wine, spicy Speck, hard Schüttelbrot, sweet-smelling chestnuts, etc.

Good food in South Tyrol
The symbiosis of two cultures is also visible in the cuisine: as well as Tyrolean rural dishes there are also Mediterranean dishes on the menu. South Tyrol’s quality products include apples, grapes, chestnuts, Schüttelbrot, Speck, honey, wine, grappa and much more!

South Tyrol’s history
South Tyrol, the region between Brenner and Salurn, was part of Austria up until the First World War. In the course of the peace negotiations of the First World War the province was awarded to Italy and consequently italianised. Today, South Tyrol is an autonomous province and as such is a world-wide model for minorities!
